The filling of the lake from January to June and then its progressive emptying until October result in significant changes in the landscape and environments.
Soon the birds have taken advantage of this vast wetland. Mudflats discovered at the end of the summer attract migrating shorebirds, vegetation that covers these mudflats in the autumn and large bodies of water hold many ducks during the winter and spring.
Aube lakes have become over the years a staging important for cranes. Many individuals overwinter on these lakes.
Obligatory channel during migration in spring and autumn (Black Stork is regularly observed y), the lakes are also popular with winter visitors. Depending on the severity of the winter, visitors may be different.
